ABOUT ABOUT

Wilkes University Theatre Department presents the Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II masterpiece, Carousel. Visit a small coastal town in Maine where people work hard, keep an eye on each other, and are fed as much by gossip as they are clams and lobsters. Julie, a young millworker, is an open-minded dreamer in a town full of candid pragmatists. She meets Billy, a bruque outsider who barks for the carousel, and sees in him another romantic spirit. But romance is made up of extremes, and their love story is troubled from the beginning. A story of love, loss, and perseverance, Carousel features some of the greatest musical theatre melodies of all time, including 'If I Loved You' and 'You'll Never Walk Alone' and romping dance numbers like 'June is Bustin' Out All Over.' Join us at the Dorothy Dickson Darte Center this November!
